Position Overview

Clever Cubs Daycare is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to lead the overall operations, staff, and educational programming of our childcare center. This role is responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and compliant environment while delivering high-quality early childhood education and exceptional family experiences.

The Director will oversee daily operations, manage staff performance, ensure compliance with New York State childcare regulations, and drive enrollment and program excellence. This position serves as the primary leader and ambassador of the center.

Daycare Directors are typically responsible for supervising staff, designing programs, managing budgets, and maintaining compliance with state regulations while ensuring a high standard of care. 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

·       Oversee all day-to-day operations of the daycare center, including staffing, scheduling, and facility management.

·       Lead, mentor, and evaluate teaching and administrative staff to maintain high performance and retention

·       Establish and implement center policies, procedures, and operational standards

·       Maintain a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace culture

Compliance & Licensing

·       Ensure full compliance with New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations

·       Maintain accurate records for children, staff, and licensing requirements

·       Prepare for and manage inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews

·       Implement health, safety, and emergency protocols

Program Development

·       Design and oversee age-appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood education best practices

·       Monitor classroom environments to ensure quality learning and development outcomes

·       Continuously improve programs based on feedback and industry trends

Staff Management

·       Recruit, hire, train, and onboard qualified childcare staff

·       Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development

·       Manage staff schedules, ratios, and coverage

Family & Community Engagement

·       Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians

·       Build strong relationships with families and handle inquiries, concerns, and enrollment processes

·       Conduct tours and support enrollment growth initiatives

Financial & Administrative Oversight

·       Manage center budget, payroll coordination, and supply procurement

·       Monitor enrollment, waitlists, and revenue goals

·       Optimize operational efficiency and cost management

Qualifications Required

·       Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field

·       Minimum 3+ years of experience in early childhood education or childcare

·       Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a childcare setting

·       Strong knowledge of NYS childcare licensing and compliance standards

·       Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred

·       5+ years of experience in childcare or preschool environments

·       Experience managing budgets, enrollment, and staff performance

·       CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Position Overview

Clever Cubs Daycare is seeking a nurturing, energetic, and dependable Daycare Teacher to provide high-quality care and early childhood education in a safe and engaging environment. This role is responsible for implementing daily lesson plans, supporting child development, and maintaining a structured yet fun classroom.

The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, understands developmental milestones, and can create a positive learning experience for children while maintaining compliance with New York State childcare standards.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Management & Instruction

·       Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards

·       Create a structured, engaging, and safe classroom environment

·       Lead activities including reading, arts & crafts, music, and play-based learning

·       Foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development

Child Supervision & Care

·       Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times

·       Maintain proper teacher-to-child ratios in accordance with NY regulations

·       Assist with feeding, diapering, and restroom routines as needed

·       Monitor children’s behavior and guide positive social interactions

Development & Assessment

·       Observe and track children’s developmental progress

Family Communication

·       Build strong, professional relationships with parents and guardians

Qualifications

Required

·       Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

·       Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a daycare, preschool, or childcare setting

·       Strong understanding of child development and early learning principles

·       Excellent communication and classroom management skills

Preferred

·       CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

·       Experience working in licensed childcare centers

·       Bilingual (Spanish or other languages a plus in NYC market)

This role serves as the central point of communication for staff, families, and leadership, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and a welcoming front office environment.

The ideal candidate is proactive, professional, and capable of handling multiple responsibilities including enrollment coordination, recordkeeping, billing support, and family communication—all while maintaining compliance with New York State childcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Operations

·       Manage daily front office activities, including calls, emails, and in-person inquiries

·       Maintain organized records for children, staff, and center documentation

·       Support scheduling, attendance tracking, and staff coordination

·       Ensure office systems and processes run efficiently

Enrollment & Family Support

·       Serve as the first point of contact for prospective and current families

·       Coordinate tours, enrollment paperwork, and onboarding for new families
